Selena MAC Collection: Back Again in January

¡No importa qué dirán tu padre y tu mamá, aquí sólo importa nuestro amor, te quiero!’ ~Selena, Amor Prohibido

Those are some very iconic lyrics by the one and only Selena Quintanilla-Perez. But even now she’s often simply called Selena. They are from her song, Amor Prohibido, which translates to Forbidden Love. There will never be another artist like Selena with such passion, feeling, and realness in her lyrics.

Selena will always be the Queen of Tejano Music (Texan Music). At the 1994 Grammy Awards, she won Best Mexican/American Album and was the first Tejano musician to do so, therefore establishing herself as the Queen of Tejano Music. Selena is someone who young women, latinas and others, looked up to and aspired to follow by making an impact in some way.

The iconic figure that Selena will always be convinced MAC Cosmetics to create a makeup collection based on her unique style.

MAC Cosmetics released the Selena collection in early October 2016. This collection was incredibly sought after by the late singer’s fans and makeup enthusiasts alike.

I myself wanted nothing more than to buy up every bit of the Selena collection. But everything from college books, classes and other unexpected things forced me to change those plans. I thought I could order some of the makeup online or in-store whenever I had the chance. I would come to find that I was very wrong.

Upon my mother’s suggestion, we ventured to the closest MAC store in our area. One of the girls who was working behind the makeup counter, who did not give us her name, explained, “[MAC is] bringing [the collection] back in January, that’s never happened before.”

The girl working the MAC counter section in Macy’s must have some idea of what she was saying since she works there. But, I wanted more solid info.

About a week ago, MAC Cosmetics posted to their official Instagram that the Selena collection will indeed be re-released in early January 2017. This is wonderful news for any fans who missed out on any of the eyeshadows, lipsticks or blushes and powders the collection has to offer.

MAC Cosmetics has let fans sign up to receive an alert about when the pieces of the Selena collection become newly available. That can be found on the front page of their website. Best of luck in getting the makeup from the collection this time!
