Pinterest - the Perfect Place to Plan
Launched way back in 2010, the click-and-post website that shares weight loss tips, wreath decorating instructions, and pumpkin bread recipes is just beginning to make headlines, and it’s easy to see why. Although the main ‘pinners’ appear to be females, many speculate that Pinterest will be much more than an online scrapbook. In fact, before even moving to the Google search engine, I went to Pinterest and found all the answers I needed. But how?
Here’s how it works: if I’m looking for some dorm room decor (the one college item I have full control over), I simply type in what I’m looking for (i.e. ‘wall art’, ‘dorm room’, ‘bedding’) and wah-lah! Hundreds of pictures will appear, each one different than the next. Once you click further, you’ll find that each picture has a link or attachment to it leading you to a website to buy, learn, or search a little bit more. The link is crucial to finding what website has that cute Chevron pillow or how much that shower cap costs. (Do people wear shower caps anymore?)
Since I’m heading off to snowy Utah in August, I searched for ‘cute rain boots’ on Pinterest. Two hours later and I realized I had other things to do (WARNING: Like many websites, Pinterest can and will become a sort of addiction). However, I re-pinned the shoes I liked, found the website link, and ended up buying the exact pair that I found!
So ladies, (and gentlemen, if you’re looking for that softer side), find your way off Facebook and party on Pinterest. It’s the perfect place to plan your college experience and feed that creative crafter inside of you. You’ll laugh (full belly laughs, I promise), you’ll cry (from heart warming quotes and “The Notebook” images), and you’ll open up a door to endless enjoyment.
It’s a party on Pinterest, and you’re invited.
