Beginning The Apartment Search
When beginning the strenuous, time-consuming apartment hunt, there are various things you should keep in mind — important decisions such as location, pricing, and leasing requirements. You know, all of the fun things in life.
Before you begin, there is obvious stress for good reason. As you prepare for the process of finding your apartment, there are methods to help you relax along the way. And yes, this includes a nice, cold beer throughout the planning. You are very welcome.

Ask around.
Chances are, everyone knows at least one person who has moved into an apartment — AKA, every single person basically on the planet. For good advice on the apartment search, ask people. I am being serious here, folks.
You can direct your multiple questions toward friends, family members, co-workers, and maybe even a few professors. You most likely want to ask someone who lives or has lived in your remote area because they will understand what it is you are exactly dealing with.
They can give you great recommendations, or terrible ones, but it is most certainly a starting point. And we all need one of those. Take it to social media and people will definitely give offers or help spread the word. And we all know how much you looove social media.
The point is, many are usually willing to help, especially when it makes them look good. Hopefully you can use their advice to help you and figure out what it is you want in an apartment. This is a great place to start because you are literally starting from the beginning: a brainstorm.
Perform research.
I know, this sounds like a terrible research paper and you really do not want to continue reading this. Just hang with me and I promise this will assist you with the apartment hunting. Maybe.
It is time to hit up the internet. Start that Google search engine, if you know what I mean, and ask some questions. You can literally ask anything and there should be some form of an answer located online. Just know where to look.
You want to look at the demographic of the area, the crime and safety rates, and the median pricing for apartments in that particular city or town. You want to be getting an apartment worth your buck, right? Right.
You can also look up the landlord, apartment complex, and reviews from previous or current tenants. Finding out what they say about the apartment will most likely give you a proper glimpse into what your personal experience will be like there. Of course every situation is different, but it will be better than nothing. Believe me on this one, buddy.
Take tours.
Once you find random, or maybe not so random, apartments, call and make an appointment with them. This way, you can go and take a tour and in-person scope the area and the exact model apartment.
Plus, most apartments will add your name to a drawing and this gives you the chance of winning prizes, or receiving solid discounts on your rent or electric if you do decide to sign with them. Sounds like a winner because it is one.
Taking tours says a lot about the apartment for obvious reasons. You are given an idea of what your future, potential apartment would look like. And you get a proper idea of the available space, such as the size of your closet or of the bathroom. All very important facets, clearly.
This helps you begin the apartment search because you are physically going somewhere to help you with the long process of finding where to live. You are creating a list, checking things twice, and really discovering if you can see yourself decorating Christmas lights in time for the holidays. Hey, it all plays a part.
When you decide to begin the apartment search, you have to sort of realize what it is you are in store for. There will be a lot of headache, no-go’s, and of course high hopes. They each play a part in the hunt, believe it or not.
There are various and many things you can do to help you prepare for the fun. However, I like to stick to these three because they say the most, and are the most helpful given this situation, in my opinion.
Do not dare be afraid to ask those around you your many questions and for all sorts of recommendations. Something is better than nothing in this case. You also need to start performing the proper research in order to find a lovely place to permanently reside. Then, once you create a list off the bat, make those phone calls and start the tours.
Finding an apartment is stressful, but it can definitely be made easier by listening and following these three simple steps. So go find that apartment, you.
