Rising Music Artist Destined for Greatness

Up-and-coming music talent Orlando Jones, Jr. is an aspiring music artist and lyricist from the state of Mississippi. Jones attends the University of Southern Mississippi and is currently majoring in public relations. Although Jones started rapping when he was twelve, he didn’t begin to take it seriously until his freshman year of college, fall of 2008. Jones defines music as life and everything in it. “Not a day goes by that I don’t involve music in my daily routine,” says Jones.

Jones is inspired by Eminem, Tupac, and the late Michael Jackson. Two of Jones’s favorite songs include “Not Afraid,” by Eminem and “Rock with You,” by Michael Jackson. Jones’s ultimate musical goal is to change people’s lives by sharing his stories through music. “I need the people, and I do this for the people,” says the upcoming music artist. Jones elaborates on how important his fans are and says if it were not for the listeners, he would not be able to feed his music to the hungry crowds.

Jones has  performed at several location throughout the southern region, and he is looking to branch out while continuing to push towards his ultimate goal. Jones has been interviewed on Hattiesburg’s 106.3 radio station as a new and up-and-coming artist.

He has all the potential and the skills needed to be a great artist, but an artist always has room for improvement, even some of the greats. There are many talented, upcoming artists. Orlando is truly one of those artists. He is putting in the effort and trying to make his dreams become reality. It is vital that upcoming artists strive to toward their goals continue to push themselves.
