Visit Wrigley Field

By Jack O'Donnell on July 12, 2012

If you are spending your summer taking class downtown, you need to check out Wrigley Field at some point before the season ends. Whether you are a Cubs fan, Sox fan or a fan of a different team entirely, Wrigley Field is a guaranteed good time.

I myself am a Cubs fan. Although the team is in a rebuilding phase and not very good this season, I track all the statistics and either watch or check scores of every game. I anticipate trades and think of scenarios that will best help the team.

But no matter how bad or good the Cubs are, you are guaranteed to have a good time going to the ballpark on the north side to watch a game.

There are a couple good sections to watch the game for a reasonable price. The best seats in my opinion are the bleacher seats which are located in the outfield.

The bleachers are not connected to the actual stadium so they have a separate entrance.  The atmosphere in the bleachers is incredible.  Everyone is there to enjoy the game, enjoy the beer and enjoy each other.

There is no assigned seating in the bleachers so it is great for a big group outing.  You do not have to find seats together online because you can choose to sit wherever you want as a group in the bleachers.

There is one main rule when sitting in the bleachers.  If you happen to catch a home run hit by the opposing team, YOU MUST THROW THE BALL BACK ONTO THE FIELD.  This is crucial.  If you neglect this rule, you won’t hear the end of it from the other cubs fans sitting in the bleachers.  Follow this rule and you will have a fun experience in the bleachers.

After the game there are some fun options for bars to go to in the surrounding area of Wrigleyville.  Two of the best bars to go to post game are Murphy’s Bleachers and Sluggers.

At Murphy’s bleachers, many bleacher bums can be found after the game due to the location of the bar which is right across the street from the bleachers.  Sluggers is filled with Cubs fans as well and has dueling pianos at nights as well as batting cages which is a pretty unique thing for a bar to have.  Either are a fun option for a post-game drink.

Wrigley Field is a great time for anyone young or old to see a baseball game and generally have a good time.  If you are in the city this summer, get out to Wrigley the next chance you get!
