Cookieception
So I was surfing the internet one day when I came across the most amazing sight. I have never been a person to take the internet too seriously or to immediately try things that I have seen there. This is for good reason, but this I had to try.
Ta-Dah, behold the most amazing cookie ever. Upon seeing this Duke of Deliciousness, this King of Cookies, I knew I had to give them a try. I proceeded to look through the comments until I found the source, a website called picky-palate.com. This is a must see website for people looking for some baking ideas. I went straight for dessert. I eventually found them under Oreo-stuffed chocolate chip cookies. I highly recommend these and so do many of my friends and family who have tried them. This is what you will need.
OREO STUFFED CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
Start to finish: One hour
Servings: 24 cookies
2 sticks softened butter
Three-fourths cup light brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon pure vanilla
3 and one-half cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
10 ounce bag chocolate chips
1 bag Oreo cookies, double stuff (of course).
And here is how to make them:
Heat the oven to 350 F.
In a stand or electric mixer, cream the butter and sugars until well combined. Then add in eggs and vanilla until well combined.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt and baking soda. Slowly add this to the wet ingredients along with chocolate chips until just combined. Be careful on the chocolate chips. Too many will make the next step difficult. I did not need all 10 ounces.
The recipe online says to use a cookie scoop but the ones I found were too big or too small. The recipe also says to put the dough on the top and bottom to seal the cookies but that turned into more of a "cookie pancake" with an Oreo hiding underneath.
Get out a cookie sheet and line it with parchment or non-stick cooking spray.
Take a small bit of dough as wide as the Oreo and as thick as one of the chocolate chips and press it on the bottom of the Oreo.
Then take a second, larger bit of dough and place it on the top. Smooth it down the side of the Oreo. Do not go all the way to the base since the dough will melt down and seal the Oreo in as it bakes.
Place the cookies on the cookie sheet. Leave enough room for them to grow as they bake.
Place the sheet in the oven and wait 13 minutes or until satisfied. Make sure to place the cookies in the middle of the oven so they don’t burn on one side. Thirteen minutes may sometimes not be enough due to the size of the cookies.
There is enough dough to make 24 of these bad boys. Hide the first dozen for yourself and share the rest to appease your friends.
