The Best Music Festivals to attend this Summer

With all the music festivals held every year, all over the world, it’s hard to pick a favorite. If you’ve never been to a music festival and you love music, it’s one of the most wonderful experiences you can ever imagine. The music, the lights, the people, everything about them is so great and although sometimes it can get a little crazy, they’re still a lot of fun to attend. If you’ve never been to a music festival and have been thinking about it, here’s a list of some of the best upcoming music festivals this summer:

March

Ultra Music Festival

Miami,FL

March 18-20

Ultra Music Festival is held every year in the month of March at the Bayfront Park in Miami,FL. Every year UMF gets bigger with headliners like Deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia, Afrojack, Tiesto, Kaskade, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta and Avicii among others. Ultra is a huge deal in Miami with more than 160,000 attendees from all over the world every year. If you love EDM and a good time, then Ultra Music Festival might definitely be the festival for you.

April

Coachella

Indio,CA

April 15-24

The Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival started back in 1999 and ever since then it’s been ongoing every April at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Coachella brings the best pop, indie, hip-hop and EDM every year over two consecutive weekends. Some of Coachella’s most noticeable performers in the past have included AC/DC, Amy Winehouse, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Prince, Paul McCartney, Coldplay, Madonna and Kanye West. Coachella is one of the most famous music festivals in the United States and attendees now have the option of camping out on the festival grounds increasing its popularity and attendance. During the 2012 Coachella Music Festival, the crowd was surprised when Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg performed and a hologram of Tupac Shakur appeared on stage. Attending Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival should definitely be a part of your bucket list.

BottleRock Napa Valley Music Festival

Napa Valley,CA

May 27-29

The Bottle Rock Napa Valley Music Festival, also in California, is like no other! This years headliners include Stevie Wonder, Florence+The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Death Cab For Cutie, and Lenny Kravitz among others. Past performers have included The Black Keys, Kings of Leon, Zack Brown Band, LL Cool J, etc. Not only is it a music festival but it is also a wine, food and brew festival as well, if you love all these things then this might be the festival for you!

June

Bonnaroo

Manchester, Tennessee

June 9-12

Bonnaroo is held in a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee with more than 80,000 campers and more than 10 stages of music. Much like Coachella, Bonnaroo is also a music and arts festival. Bonnaroo features a diverse array of performers ranging from genre such as pop, rock, indie, hip-hop, R&B, EDM, metal, funk, jazz, country, gospel and reggae. Bonnaroo definitely has something for everyone. If you love nature, music and Tennessee then Bonnaroo might be the music festival for you!

 

The Governors Ball

New York City, New York

June 3-5

The Governors Ball Music Festival has been held in Randall’s Island in New York City since June 2011. Aside from the musical entertainment the festival also features popular NYC restaurants and food trucks. In 2013 the Governors Ball featured Kanye West, Guns N’ Roses, Kings of Leon, Nas, Pretty Lights, Kendrick Lamar, Erykah Badu and Azealia Banks. This year the lineup includes Florence and The Machine, Lana Del Ray, Drake, The Black Keys, Deadmau5 among the many other performers. If you love music and food come to New York and have a ball!

 

July

Lollapalooza

July 28-29

Grant Park, Chicago

It’s been 25 years since the world renowned Lollapalooza has made its mark on the world. Lollapalooza has 8+ stages that features more than 170 bands from all over the world making it a true world-wide experience right in the heart of Chicago. The music festival hosts more than 160,000 attendees over a three-day period.  Lollapalooza is currently touring in six countries worldwide. Lolla stops in cities like Santiago, Chile; Buenos Aires, Argentina; São Paulo, Brazil; Berlin, Germany; and this year with its newest addition in Bogota, Colombia. Lollapalooza always offers a diverse group of performers ranging from EDM to heavy metal. In the past Lolla has featured Kid Cudi, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Lady Gaga, Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, Kanye West, Empire of the Sun and many more!
