Why Foreign Policy Will Make Donald Trump Lose

Donald Trump, a man who many dismissed as not serious about actually running for president, this time, is now considered to be one of the front runners of the GOP. Many are changing their viewpoints and saying that Trump has a very good chance at actually winning in the primaries.

Even after his controversies, Trump still maintains the lead in national polling. Although, as tempting as it is to declare that he is a top pick for the republican nomination, it’s still just too early.

But it’s not even his strengths that are dominating his approval ratings though; it’s more of his opponents’ weaknesses.

Trump could win the approval ratings of the people, as has happened in the past, but there is absolutely no evidence that he will win the nomination of the party. Like in many situations of the past, there have been candidates who have led in national polls and may even win some states, but do not come close to winning the republican nomination.

As his opponents’s campaigns formerly seemed to have assumed that he would have disappeared from the race one way or another, it seems that they have started to take him seriously for the election as several attacks in the last GOP debate were raised against Trump and his standings.

The former reality TV star may be getting the approval nod from some Americans, but when it comes down to foreign policy, the entertainer is just not as educated as others that stand before him in the debates. Unfortunately for him, foreign policy is seen to weigh heavily on this next election as the Islamic State (ISIS) seems to dominate main-stream media and the attention of Americans.

With Trump’s complete lack of knowledge when it comes to foreign policy, including the time that he admitted to not knowing the answers to what he considered “gotcha” questions in an interview last September, which had all focused on foreign policy.

He also emphasized that it was not important for him to know the differences between Islamic militant groups based in Lebanon and Palestine, according to The Business Insider, claiming that it was because he “never met them,” meaning terrorism group leaders. In that same interview, he vowed to hire a “talented” general to lead the U.S. armed forces because it was “ridiculous” to know all of the leaders, as he said they would change by the time he became President.

“I’m a delegator. I find great people,” said Trump to Hugh Hewitt in an interview in September after accusing Hewitt of asking ridiculous questions. “I find absolutely great people, and I’ll find them in our armed services, and I find absolutely great people … But when you start throwing around names of people and where they live and give me their address, I think it’s ridiculous, and I think it’s totally worthless.”

Trump stating on Twitter that he thought that Paris was in Germany.

His latest remark that has received a lot of negative attention toward his campaign was when he remarked on social media about the man that was shot in northern Paris on Thursday, Jan. 7.

Trump’s first mistake was saying that the man was shot inside a police station, when it was actually on the outside as the man was holding a butcher knife and shouting “Allahu Akbar,” which means “God is Great,” right before police shot and killed him, according to BBC News.

Trump’s second mistake with Thursday’s tweet was much more evident with believing that Paris was in Germany. Many have replied to his tweet asking if he thought that Paris was in Germany or if he was just listing nonsense. He has yet to respond to any of the replies.

With November just around the corner, parties and voters will be looking to see who has the best judgement on national security; something that Trump not only lacks but also has absolutely no knowledge on and believes that the answer is to just hire people. Is he really commander-in-chief material?
