10 TV Apartments We Wish Were Ours
At one point or another during your Netflix binge-watching sessions, you’ve most likely lusted over the stunning apartment that the show’s characters lived in. Whether it’s an urban loft or a posh NYC apartment, TV show characters always seem to reside in a more than humble abode.
While it may not be possible (okay, it’s pretty much completely impossible) for us college students to live in such an amazing apartment, we can still look at them and dream, right? Well, prepare to dream right now as you peruse this list of 10 beautiful TV apartments.
1) Adam Galloway’s Loft in “House of Cards”
While Adam Galloway is something of a conspicuous character in “House of Cards,” there’s no denying that he has an impressive loft. Admiring the wall comprised of windows and the rustic wood flooring alone would be enough of a reason for me to visit if I were Claire Underwood.
The simplicity of it all in combination with the natural lighting make Adam Galloway’s loft yet another remarkable component of the show.
2) Carrie Bradshaw’s Iconic Apartment in “Sex and the City”
Another iconic TV apartment is Carrie’s from “Sex and the City.” Classy and clean yet cozy and eclectic, the apartment reflects Carrie’s character flawlessly. The entire structure and design of the apartment (hello, gigantic walk-through closet) make this apartment a pretty much unattainable dream, but it still demands appreciation.
3) Don Draper’s Luxurious Upper East Side Apartment in “Mad Men”
A sunken living room? Seriously? I need Don Draper’s apartment now. His modern and immaculate home uses straight lines and earthy tones to demonstrate this character’s one-of-a-kind of sophisticated maturity.
It comes as no surprise that the picture-perfect apartment was created by award-winning and Emmy-nominated set director Claudette Didul.
4) Lucy and Ricky Ricardo’s NYC Apartment in “I Love Lucy”
Charmingly vintage in its own genuine way, Lucy and Ricky Ricardo’s apartment in “I Love Lucy” epitomizes what I imagine New York City would be like in the 1950s. Although the pair moved around a little bit and eventually ended up in a glamorous Hollywood suite, the one-armed sofas and classic drapes pictured in the first couple of seasons make their NYC apartment a dream for lovers of the antiquated.
5) Monica Geller’s Sizable Apartment in “Friends”
The apartment in “Friends” is one of the most iconic apartments in television history. Although it’s completely unreasonable that most of the crew could ever afford to live here, you have to appreciate the abode. With the exposed brick in the kitchen, the purple walls in the living room and that classic white couch, it’s no wonder that so many of the show’s episodes took place here.
6) Olivia Pope’s Elegant Apartment in “Scandal”
I don’t think I could walk into Olivia Pope’s apartment without washing my hands and feet first for fear of making anything even a little bit flawed. The color scheme is chic and almost completely neutral (the addition of some shades of blue is just right), but the addition of a little bit of pattern adds the perfect amount of detail. Emanating grace, femininity and sophistication with ease, the apartment is simply gorgeous.
7) Schmidt, Winston, Jess and Nick’s Spacious LA Loft in “New Girl”
Whenever I discover that another person loves “New Girl” like I do, I always bring up how amazing the group’s apartment is. From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but the inside reveals high ceilings, wood floors and an unbelievable amount of space.
Perhaps that’s the most remarkable part of the apartment; from the kitchen to the living area to the bedrooms, there is so much room everywhere. With the exposed brick thrown in, I can safely say that the apartment from “New Girl” is my dream apartment.
8) Sheldon and Leonard’s Cali Apartment in “Big Bang Theory”
Bright and boisterous, Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment in “Big Bang Theory” exudes excitement. The set-up is perfect for sitting around and spending time with friends. Also, can we talk about how big it is? The colossal living room and enormous kitchen are unheard-of assets in most college town apartments. The fact that the show takes place in Pasadena, California just adds to the brilliance of Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment.
9) Will Truman’s Comfortable Apartment in “Will & Grace”
To be fair, there’s nothing extremely remarkable about the apartment from “Will & Grace.” However, it’s the little things that make it special. That wooden shelfing system in the back? The cushioned wicker table in the middle of the living room with the bulky candles on top? That blue couch that you can just tell is comfortable enough to nap on? It all adds up to perfect comfort.
10) Arnold’s Funky Apartment in “Hey Arnold!”
Last but not least, Arnold’s funky apartment in “Hey Arnold!” deserves a shout-out, from the groovy color scheme to the unique design (the ceiling and the seating pictured above are ridiculous, but you know you love it). Football Head may have had his issues throughout the show, but his apartment was like a beacon of light.
