10 things Only People From Jacksonville Will Understand
Being from Jacksonville, or the “904″, is something about me that I hold dearly to my heart. If you’re from the area as well, you know there’s just some things about being from Duval that we can all relate with.
1. THE JAGUARS JUST AREN’T GOOD, AND WE LEARN TO EMBRACE IT
If you’ve been around since the Alltel stadium days, you know that heartbreak is just a regular emotion to feel as a Jaguars fan. It pretty much comes as a shock when we actually win a game. But hey, don’t ever talk trash about my Jags, alright?
2.METRO DINER IS YOUR LIFE
If you can live your life without ever trying the mouth-watering chicken and waffles plate, kudos to you.
3. ARE YOU A HIPSTER? WELL, I BET YOU’VE BEEN TO RIVERSIDE
Riverside is the place to be if you’re young, hip and cool. This area has amazing coffee shops, cute boutiques, and the best night life that JAX has to offer.
4. BASICALLY THE ONLY THING TO DO ON WEDNESDAY IS GO TO ART WALK
Every Wednesday Jacksonville’s local talent comes downtown to showcase any form or art ranging from paintings to jewelry, but I’m sure all my Duval natives already know this.
5. THE TRAFFIC IS JUST…AWFUL.
Living in Jacksonville requires you to leave your house 30 minutes early, because the traffic is just atrocious. And just to make matters worse, literally anywhere you want to go is on the other side of town.
6. Who needs to shop in Orlando when you have the Town Center?
We’ve got everything here, ranging from Urban outfitters all the way to the up-scale shops like Gucci and Betty Johnson. Even when you’re broke, it’s just a fun place to come and hang out with friends.
7. THE DUVAL SONG IS YOUR NATIONAL ANTHEM
DUVAL, BANGEM. AM I RIGHT?
8. YOU TRIED YOUR BEST TO LEAVE JACKSONVILLE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION
And if you didn’t, you knew FSCJ, UNF or JU was in your near future.
9. WHAT IS UP WITH THE CONSTRUCTION DOWN TOWN?
It’s been like, 4 years and they still aren’t done working on the roads leading into the downtown area.
10. HIGH SCHOOL RIVALRIES WERE NOT TAKEN LIGHTLY
Friday nights only meant one thing…High school football.
At the end of the day, Jacksonville is my home, and there’s no other place quite like it.
