"Tallahassee Events": Week of September 13th 2015

By Danielle Wirsansky on September 12, 2015

Now that we’re all getting back into the flow of our daily grind, it’s important to make sure we set aside time for ourselves. We’ve got to take a break, relax, and step away from the mounds of homework and pressures of work and our daily lives. It can be hard to even set aside time to find things to do, so to make it easier for you, here is a compiled list of things to do in Tallahassee this week that might give you a moment of solace or two.

1. Red

“Red” is playing at Theatre Tallahassee this weekend and next!

Red is a contemporary play written about famous artist, Mark Rothko, and his relationship with his assistant Kenneth. It originally premiered at the famous Donman Theatre in London, but now you can catch it locally at Theatre Tallahassee. It won a Tony for Best Play during its original run, and Eddie Redmayne also won a Tony for his portrayal of Kenneth.
The facebook event page describes the show as such: “Mark Rothko has landed the biggest commission in the history of modern art: a series of murals for New York’s famed The Four Seasons restaurant. For two years, Rothko works feverishly with his young assistant, Ken. But when Ken gains the confidence to challenge him, Rothko faces the possibility that his crowning achievement could also become his undoing. RED is a searing portrait of an artist’s ambition and vulnerability as he tries to create a definitive work for an extraordinary setting.”
Performances will run  Sept 10-20, 2015. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the shows will open at 8pm and on Sundays at 2pm.
