News emerged today that job growth in the US was below forecast amounts, only gaining 69,000 jobs. The Labor Department said the unemployment rate increased to 8.2% from 8.1%.

President Obama, according to a BBC report, said there is “a lot of work to do to get to where we want to be… but we will come back stronger”.

“There is no excuse when so many people are looking for work. Now is not the time to play politics, not the time to sit on your hands,” Obama said. The Republican nominee Mitt Romney criticized Obama’s handling of the economy in light of these results.
