2015 Movie Sequels to Look Forward to
It is one of the best feelings to find out that there will be a sequel to one of your favorite movies. I always like to stay in touch with the movie world, and make sure I know what movies are coming out and when. Here are five movie sequels premiering this year that you can get excited about.
INSURGENT
The Divergent series is back this March! Shailene Woodley and Theo James are returning to the big screen as the hot and powerful duo, Tris and Four. From the looks of the trailer, the Divergents are fighting back. Four, Tris and her brother Caleb (Ansel Elgort) battle against the other factions for civilization. Them against the world. I don’t know if they can top the first movie, but I’m sure it will be just as amazing! If you haven’t seen Divergent yet, you better run out to a Redbox before March 20. Trust me, you’ll be looking up Insurgent show times the second you see the ending credits.
Yes, Pitch Perfect 2 is finally here, well May 15 that is! Beca (Anna Kendrick), Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson), Chloe (Brittany Snow), and the rest of the crew are back doing what they do best, singing of course. After the Barden Bellas get suspended from a hilarious, yet disturbing stunt by Fat Amy, they are put up against some new competition, European a capella groups. The girls come up with a plan by making a deal with enthusiastic judges Gail (Elizabeth Banks) and John (John Michael Higgins). If the Barden Bellas win the world championships they get reinstated in the a capella community. As the group faces competition from all over the world, they are funnier than ever. Just watching the trailer will have you actually laughing out loud!
The raunchy teddy bear is making a comeback. Mark Wahlberg and the voice of Seth MacFarlane return with new cast members Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman. Mila Kunis will not be returning in the sequel, I’m assuming because of the birth of her child last year. In the film, Ted gets married and he and his wife want to have a child; however, in order to do that Ted has to prove to the state that he is a person in the court of law. Ted and John (Wahlberg) go through all types of hilarious shenanigans while trying to prove this. On July 26, it looks like Ted 2 is going to make people cry laughing yet again.
MAGIC MIKE XXL
The boys are back, and they are bringing a few girls into the mix. Amber Heard, Elizabeth Banks, and surprisingly, Jada Pinkett Smith are joining the original gang of Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, and Adam Rodriguez. However, Matthew McConaughey will not be returning. The trailer doesn’t give much of a spoiler of the exact story line, but let’s be honest, do we really need one? I mean come on, the hottest guys in Hollywood will be dancing in their underwear! Do I really need to go on?! Magic Mike XXL is expected to heat up the summer on July 1.
THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY – PART 2
Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Gale (Liam Hemsworth), and the rest of the cast of the Hunger Games series are hitting the theaters again later this year on November 20. After Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014) leaving us hanging, I’m sure we’re all just waiting to pre-order our tickets. As for Philip Seymour Hoffman’s character, Plutarch Heavensbee; he will appear in the movie since they did some filming before his death, but I assume they will have his character die as well. The trailer has not been released, but let’s face it, there is no way that this film could be lousy. Since the song “The Hanging Tree” from Mockingjay – Part 1 went viral, I expect Part 2 to be even more popular as new fans join the love of the series.
