Hillary Clinton Won't Be President, And Here's Why

Hillary Clinton 2016: Democratic nominee for president and runner-up for president. Yes, you heard me right. I do not believe she will win.

If you asked me a few months ago I would have said the exact opposite. With the 2016 race a long time away, she came off as the major frontrunner, winning almost every early poll. It wasn’t until I saw a poll of her losing to Chris Christie that I realized the error of my ways.

It reminded me of a fact my dad told me he learned in college. His sociology professor said the ultimate predictor of the next president is which candidate would voters “rather have a beer with.”

Hillary can be described in many words: revolutionary, intelligent and strong, but not personable. Her political career has been marked by powerful addresses and her ability to fight opponents tooth and nail. She shattered the stereotype that a strong female figure cannot fit into politics. This persona, however, is the very thing holding her back. These traits are easily seen as pushy, harsh and shrill.

Conversely, her potential opponent, Chris Christie, is a guy’s guy. Say what you will about his politics, he is the epitome of a man you would have a beer with. He is the funny uncle you can’t wait to see at family parties. Hillary, however, is the aunt who always brings the pungent cheese ball and starts a fight with another relative. This generalization will resonate in the minds of many Americans and prevent her from reaching the demographics she needs to win.

I have no doubt that she is qualified to be the Chief Executive of the United States. But in terms of her personality, the damage is already done. If she manages to become the cool aunt who sneaks you a glass of wine at Thanksgiving, then maybe she has a chance.
