Facebook has unveiled a clone of the photo sharing site Instagram, through a downloadable app. Available for the iPhone and iPod touch devices, the photos are posted to a single scrolling feed and can post to Facebook simultaneously.

“As you can imagine, people love to share and view photos on Facebook, so giving people a great photo experience has been a really big priority for us,” a Facebook spokesman told The New York Times.

Dirk Stoop, Facebook’s product manager for photos, told the Times that more higher resolution photos could be uploaded. “We can basically show you more photos on the app, so we can make a more immersive experience around your photos,” Stoop said. “On the side of publishing these photos, Facebook Camera lets you upload much higher resolution photos at up to 2,048 by 2,048 pixels wide.”

Are you going to download the app? What do you think?
