College Football Preview: Week 11
My first College Football preview was a lot of fun, so I decided to make it a weekly thing. Here are my results from last week’s picks:
Overall:
3-2
By Conference:
ACC: 1-0 (Florida State didn’t play well, but Jameis Winston found a way to win.)
Big 12: 1-0 (TCU pulled off a great comeback win, but Trevone Boykin really needs to step it up.)
Pac 10: 1-1 (Arizona State won late, and UCLA surprisingly won a defensive struggle against Arizona.)
SEC: 0-1 (Ole Miss lost stud receiver, Laquon Treadwell, for the season, and lost a tough one to Auburn.)
And here are my Week 11 picks:
#10 Baylor @ #16 Oklahoma 11:00 AM CT
Line: Oklahoma -4.5
Baylor’s high-powered offense is led by senior quarterback, Bryce Petty. He had a 10-2 TD:INT ratio in the month of October; the kid can flat out throw the ball. On the other side, Oklahoma is coming off of a 59-14 rout over Iowa State. The Sooners hope to stay in the hunt for a Big 12 championship with a win, but I think Petty leads the Bears to a victory, and puts them into the conversation for the college football playoff.
Pick: Baylor 38, Oklahoma 35
#8 Notre Dame @ #11 Arizona State 2:30 PM CT
Line: ASU -1.5
The Sun Devils come into this game having won 4 in a row, including 3 wins over ranked opponents (Utah, Stanford and USC). On the other hand, Notre Dame barely escaped with a victory against an explosive Navy rushing attack. The Irish gave up 336 yards on the ground last Saturday, the most they have given up all year. I think Arizona State freshman running back, Demario Richard, will have a huge game. Last week, he carried the ball 14 times against Utah rushing for 116 yards. Richard was very inconsistent earlier this season, but he is beginning to settle down into his role.
Pick: Arizona State 27, Notre Dame 21
#9 Kansas State @ #6 TCU 6:30 PM CT
Line: TCU -5.5

TCU barely survived on the road against West Virginia, but a win is a win. The Horned Frogs will need junior quarterback, Trevone Boykin, to bounce back if they hope to put up points against a stingy Kansas State defense. This game is in Fort Worth, so it is hard for me to pick against TCU. I strongly believe TCU is a team that will be in contention for one of the final four playoff spots.
Pick: TCU 31, Kansas State 23
#4 Alabama @ #14 LSU 7:00 PM CT
Line: Alabama -6
Nick Saban and Co. will head to Death Valley for a primetime showdown with rival, LSU. Both teams are coming off of a bye week, but LSU’s last game on Oct. 25, was a win against Ole Miss.
Alabama Quarterback, Blake Sims, is going to have to provide the same offense he did vs. Texas A&M and at Tennessee, because a win in Death Valley will not come easy. LSU hopes their freshman star, Leonard Fournette, will be bale to dominate the Crimson Tide defense. It is a tough choice, but I think Saban squeaks by.
Pick: Alabama 24, LSU 20
#13 Ohio State @ #7 Michigan State 7:00 PM CT
Line: MSU -3
The Big Ten East has two teams that sit atop of it at 4-0: Ohio State and Michigan State. The Spartans are coming off of a bye week, and are led by their senior workhorse tailback, Jeremy Langford; he has run for over 100 yards in his last 5 games and has scored 8 touchdowns. Ohio State will have to rely on their defense to pull off the upset on the road. Mark Dantonio will have his Spartans ready.
Pick: Michigan State: 32, Ohio State 27
#5 Oregon @ #20 Utah 9:00 PM CT
Line: Oregon -10.5
Oregon, the third highest ranked one loss team, travels to Salt Lake City late Saturday night to take on Utah. The Utes are coming off an overtime loss at Arizona State and will have to bring their A game to beat Oregon. Heisman hopeful, Marcus Mariota, has anchored four straight wins for the Ducks and will be able to show off his offensive skills against Utah.
Pick: Oregon 38, Utah 24
