Your view: Would you still take a taxi in New York if prices went up?

New York’s Taxi and Limousine Commission has said it is looking into a proposal from fleet owners and cab drivers that would see prices increase by almost 20 percent. A report from The New York Times says if this proposal is approved, rate increases could be effective as early as the middle of July.

“The fare hasn’t changed since 2006, so it is reasonable for taxi drivers and fleet owners to put this on the table,” said the city’s taxi and limousine commissioner David Yassky according to the Times.

A public hearing on the subject is to be conducted May 31.

If prices went up, whether you are a visitor or a resident of the city, would you still take a taxi there?
