#ScandalsBack
SPOILER ALRET

ABC’s Scandal is back and as of 10:40 p.m., #ScandalThursday is trending on Twitter. If you’re like me, you’ve been counting down to the continuation of season three all month and just waiting to see what creator Shonda Rhimes has in store for the rest of the season.
In case you’ve missed it, here’s the context of what happened in the new episode:
“Uncommon valor was a common virtue”
Seems as if a few people in Scandal are out with a vengeance. Rowan “Elijah” Pope, played by Joe Morton, is officially out of secret agency B613 but is not leaving without a fight- not very uncharacteristic of him. President “Fitz” Grant (Tony Goldwyn) is the target, and Papa Pope rarely misses.
Another character, journalist James Novak (Dan Bucatinsky) is all for justice- even if that means bringing down the “monster” that is his husband, Cyrus Been (Jeff Perry), White House chief of staff. He has found out his husband’s secret with Vice President Sally Langston (played by Kate Burton), and will play whatever role to get the secret out.
Gladiators in trouble
While Quinn (Katie Lowes) is, to me, the most unfortunate ex-gladiator, she is still living on the dark side. She even spends her time investing in kidnapping. Not being a gladiator is not very healthy for her, and Guillermo Diaz as Huck was nowhere to be found in this recent episode.
Harrison came back in this episode with a bit of paranoia and a steamy reunion. Seeing actor Columbus Short on edge proves to be more entertaining than you think, or it’s just him looking like a bad boy while holding a gun.
Affairs, Affairs and more Affairs
It’s the part that most people are most excited to hear about. The Olivia and Fitz relationship is still alive- but they are working towards discouraging it. It’s always the push that makes things interesting, while waiting for President Grant to put it all on the line to pull her back. First lady Melody “Mellie” Grant (Bellamy Young) has a plan to take the attention off Pope, but is uncommonly agreeable in the beginning of the episode.
Speaking of Mellie, we learn a little bit about some hidden skeletons of her own. While Sally still plans to run for president, Fitz has his hopes set on Gov. Andrew Nichols, a close friend, to replace her. Yet, Gov. Nicholas, played by Jon Tenney, has his eye on Mellie- what’s going on there?
Still, Scandal never ceases to entertain me on a weekly basis, and it is only natural to be motivated to blog about it afterward. However, it begs to question how much drama and scandal actually happens in politics. While a show is just a show, the complexity of it seems to reflect aspects of real life that we want to be too good to be true.
Actress Kerry Washington appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live around midnight shortly after the premiere of the new episode.
She expressed to Kimmel that she is currently still shooting the show and that her mother was, at first, devastated that she became an actor. Not to mention, Washington’s baby bump was a bit noticeable on the newest episode.
Washington shared that actual First Lady Michelle Obama does watch Scandal. We’ll I’m watching too, and I can’t wait for next week’s episode.
