X-Factor in Super Bowl XLVIII: Seattle's Percy Harvin
Seattle’s offense will be in dire need of a spark in Super Bowl XLVIII against Denver if they hope to put up enough points to beat the Broncos at MetLife Stadium and wide receiver Percy Harvin will be the key to Seattle’s success on offense.
Harvin has only played in two games this season for the Seahawks after a hip injury held him out until week 11, when he finally made his debut. After re-aggravating the same injury, Harvin sat out again until Seattle’s divisional game at home against New Orleans, a game in which Harvin had to leave early after suffering a concussion.
Harvin was a game-time decision against the 49ers in the NFC championship game the following week, but did not play. Harvin is now cleared to practice and will most likely play on Sunday.
Even if Harvin has only played two games this season, his presence on the field is something that can only benefit the Seahawks. Harvin is an explosive player and so you try to find any way possible to get him the ball. He has the ability to break open a big play anytime he gets the ball in open field. Short plays like screens and quick slants will be utilized to get Harvin going early in the game.
But just having him in the game is already scary enough for a Bronco secondary who already lost starting corner Chris Harris for the season a few weeks ago. Harvin has blazing speed that can stretch the field and draw double teams and open up opportunities for receivers Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin to get open.
Harvin has been absent for all but two games this season for Seattle, but will his return in the biggest game on the biggest stage be enough to get Seattle their first Super Bowl title in franchise history?
