Staying Healthy on Vacation
Vacations always killing your diet? Do you always end up finishing your day feeling bloated and stuffed? No matter how hard we work during our busy schedules, vacations always seem to catch up to us. Trying to remain healthy and enjoy life can be difficult, so here are some guidelines for staying healthy while on vacation.
Try Local Dishes
Vacationing at a tropical beach? Local cuisines typically include exotic seafood, which is great if you are trying to be healthy. Seafood is super healthy, and a great choice for a tasty meal! Plus, it never leaves you feeling stuffed, just satisfied.
Start with a Salad
Beginning your lunch and dinner with a salad will help in two ways. 1. It will prevent you from indulging too much. 2. Eating salad before a meal helps you to better digest the rest of your meal. So pile on the greens, and enjoy the deliciousness! (Bonus: it’s guilt free!)
Fresh Fruits & Vegetables, Anyone?
Have you ever noticed that the fruits and vegetables on vacation are always tastier than usual? The reason: they are fresh! My suggestion? Load up on them while you can. Add a side of green beans or cantaloupe instead of French fries. Snack on an apple or pineapple, and say no to those salty chips! Choosing the healthier option will taste great and there will be no guilt trip. Enjoy the mouthwatering fresh foods.
Stay Active
Do you ever see people exercising while on vacation and you start to feel guilty for slacking? No worries! You don’t have to work out to get a work out. Just stay active, and try activities that are fun and energizing. Staying in a tropical paradise? Hit the beach! Swimming is a great warm weather activity; plus, you’ll always have a blast. Are you vacationing in the mountains? Try hiking. I promise you, you will feel it by the time you reach the top! It is an amazing leg exercise, and you will get to experience an incredible view when you’re done.
