Postsecret is coming to Denver!

By Chandler Bobin on April 14, 2012

Postsecret is a pretty well known blog, book, as well as app on many smartphones that is “an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard,” (www.postsecret.com).

The app as well as the site allow all internet and smart phone users to view and read the thousands of anonymous postcards with some funny, sad, and very personal secrets.  The website has been featured prominently in the media in USA Today, on the Today Show, 20/20, CNN, MSNBC, CBC, NPR, and FOX News. Frank Warren, the founder, thinks of PostSecret as a safe and anonymous “place” where people can hear unheard voices and share untold stories. Warren himself received an award back in 2009 for being the 4th most influential person on the internet. Also, the  website itself had recieved over 250,000,00 views resulting in it being the recipient of Weblog of the year at the Seventh Annual Weblog Awards in 2009.

The great thing about Postsecret is that there is always some sort of secret that is posted that will appeal to someone. I know that I take time each week to scroll through the new set of posted secrets and I remember saving a few as I could really identify with some of them.

Not only does Postsecret have their website, books, and app, the founder Frank Warren created “Postsecret Live,” where Warren presents many of the postcards not listed on the website or published in the book to a large auidence. He also shares many of the stories and backgrounds behind many of the secrets on the postcards. As an audience member, you too can share a secret in the microphone with fellow audience members.

In fact, “Postsecret Live” is coming to the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado. The fact that the tour is coming to DU is a really big deal as Warren is fairly selective in choosing the schools at which his event is held.

“Postsecret Live” is coming to DU on Friday, April 20th. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for faculty. The event is not open to non-DU community members. Be sure to pick up your tickets at Driscoll Underground courtesy desk located next to the Sidelines Pub inside the Driscoll Bridge. Tickets are selling out quickly as this event is a really big deal and is a once in a lifetime opportunity! So be sure to get down to Driscoll Underground and get your ticket today!
