Overcome Your Fitness Slump...Now!
Everyone has a time when fitness and health are put on the back burner. Getting back into the swing of things can be difficult and intimidating, and there is nothing more daunting than going back to the gym after an extended time off. But that’s nothing to fear; creating an exercise and meal plan can make this process less frightening.
After a slump, making a workout plan to stick to is the way to go! The first two weeks are usually the hardest to conquer. Knowing exactly what type of exercises you want to complete in a certain day removes some of the stress that comes with getting back into shape. Planning out exercises can help you from getting burnt out, and planning in days to rest can help you prevent injuries or exhaustion. Exercising too much in the first three days can cause you to wear yourself out, and you may end up deserting your workout goals.
Exercise plans are necessary, but they are not the only crucial component in getting back into shape. You need a MEAL plan as well. Ever heard the saying “abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym” or “you can’t out exercise a bad diet”? They aren’t just sayings–they are reality. You can spend hours in the gym, but if you eat fast and cheap food all the time you will not get the results that you want. Plan your meals out every week or every couple of days. Figure out what types of food you will want and how much you will need, and hit the grocery store. Make sure to go to the grocery store when you are full. Going to the store while you are starving is not a good idea because instead of coming home with your healthy meal plan, you will have bags full of candy, chips, and frozen pizza (trust me, it happens). Good luck on reaching your fitness goals!
