10 Must-Binge Netflix Halloween Shows

By Victoria Robertson on October 30, 2016

Halloween is right around the corner (This Monday, can you believe it?!) and many of us don’t have plans outside of going to work and the traditional costume contest.

So for you homebodies out there without anything to do this Halloween, Netflix is going to be your best friend.

But what to watch?

Lucky for you, Netflix is filled with TV series that are perfect for you to binge this Halloween through the end of the year (because really, it should be Halloween year-round, right?).

So get the popcorn ready, sit back and binge-watch away!

1. “The Walking Dead”

A show about the zombie apocalypse? It doesn’t get much creepier than that. But the best part of this show is that no character is safe, it’s dramatic, it’s action packed, it’s gory, and it’s on Netflix awaiting your binging! (Just be careful of spoilers — they’re everywhere!)

2. “Stranger Things”

By now, you’ve heard of this one, and for good reason. The most buzzed about television show on Netflix this year has already been renewed for a second season.

“Stranger Things” follows a group of kids and some alien activity going on in their hometown. It’s creepy, it’s funny and there’s only 10 episodes — piece of cake!

3. “Scream”

Not the movies, although those are absolutely amazing, I’m instead talking about the TV series that will be returning for its third season to MTV next summer. It’s surprisingly refreshing, even if it is a cheesy teen show, and it’s very true to the films in the self-aware comedy aspect surrounding the slasher genre.

4. “Bones”

Airing its final season on FOX next year, “Bones” is a crime show that isn’t afraid to go there, and delves more into the anthropological background of murders to give it a unique spin. It’s comedic, dramatic and perfect for your Halloween binge. So check it out on Netflix and check it out in its final season next year!

5. “Criminal Minds”

Still on CBS with 11 seasons currently on Netflix, this series will take you quite some time to get through. That being said, it’s absolutely worth it. The show makes you rethink everything, and you’ll find yourself constantly watching your back while out in public, home alone and definitely while watching the show.

If you like the psychological chase involved in crime series, this show is going to have you addicted by the end of the first episode.

6. “Sleepy Hollow”

Yet another retelling of the classic tale, the show holds its own, albeit in a slightly cheesy fashion, mixing modern culture with the past from which the original story was created. The show has a supernatural element combined with modern crime material that makes it truly unique. It’s far-fetched, but you enjoy every minute of the ride.

7. “Supernatural”

The show about monster hunting brothers might sound too cheesy to be good, but the truth is, it’s creepy in all the right ways. There’s a reason the series has such a large fan base, and they’ll recommend you hop on the bandwagon as soon as you have the spare time!

“Supernatural” is one of those rare shows that will have loyal fans until the end, so you might as well join them.

8. “American Horror Story”

The best part about “American Horror Story” is that you don’t have to watch all of the seasons as they don’t really build off one another. So this is a series you can pick up and drop as your schedule allows.

But for true horror fans, this is one that you’re going to want to watch all the way through, especially since the themes are so different, yet so universally spooky.

9. “Bates Motel”

If you haven’t seen Alfred Hitchcock’s original film, “Psycho,” I first recommend you do that. You can even watch the remake starring Vince Vaughn, as it’s pretty much the same thing (just without the innovative Hitchcock behind the camera).

“Bates Motel” is a prequel of sorts, giving you the haunting backstory in a show that certainly holds the psychological creepy factor that you’ll be craving this Halloween.

10. “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”

The show ended back in 2003, but that doesn’t make it any less significant in the world of horror television. “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” was the original, filled with relationships, monsters and everything in between. Plus, it introduced us to several familiar faces that are still parading around Hollywood today.

Of course, there are plenty of other shows to binge-watch on Netflix, but while you’re in the Halloween spirit, these are some great ones to start out with (and there’s one for every personality!) If you’re looking for comedy, horror and everything in between, get started, because these shows are going to keep you busy, at least until Christmas.

So put on your costumes, get to watching and have a fantastic Halloween!
