Immigration
It seems, since this is an election year, every topic is up for grabs by both the Democratic and Republican parties. One of the main topics that seems to be causing the most conflict is immigration. Immigration has been a very hot topic of discussion for the past couple of years but now more so after the London bombers. When the London bombing happened and the world found out that most of the bombers were immigrants that came into their country unrecognized. This is when our country started calling for more restrictions on immigration. However, when these talks started, states decided to start blocking Syrian refugees into some states. Wisconsin was one of those states. Now, I understand that after the London bombing that people were stunned, confused, and most of all scared. However, to deny access to people whose country is in the worse turmoil that a country can be in, is in my opinion extremely inhumane. If states are worried that their immigration policy is too lack then the state can reevaluate their policy. Our country is supposed to be a melting pot of different backgrounds and ethnicities, but I guess that was just when it was convenient for us to allow them into our country. Every person that is living in the United States today are ancestors of immigrants, unless they are full blooded Native American. Just imagine if our ancestors were never allowed into this country where we would be and what type of life we would be living now a days. Just because a couple of people that were Syrian immigrants did some very horrible things doesn’t mean that every Syrian immigrant is the same. Give these people a chance to have a better life in a better place.
