Genius Garage Program Enters Second Year
Genius Garage Student Racing Team and Mentorship Program will be entering its second year with nine undergraduate students. Both young men and women of majors varying from engineering to art and journalism comprise the team and come from central Ohio universities. This year, the students will be engineering and supporting an IMSA GT1 Corvette and will be competing at tracks including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and Road America.
In Genius Garage, students form an actual racing team that not only engineers and builds the car, they are responsible for public relations and business while travelling to various internationally renowned tracks to compete. Another aspect of the program are the high-end mentors ranging from business CEOs to motorsports professionals and engineering leaders, who take time to guide the students. Also included in the program are learning field trips and research papers.
Following a successful test weekend at the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the team will be competing in the Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from June 10th through the 14th. Weekend tickets are $60 with Saturday tickets, which is race day for the team, costing $30. There will also be a concert and fireworks at no charge to the public on Saturday night.
